iPhone could be banned from India in 6 months! Apple vs TRAI.

If Apple chooses to keep fighting with the rules set by trai in India, they might have to say goodbye to the Indian market.

India’s telecom regulator is vexed with smartphone giant Apple for delaying the anti-spam app which they were supposed to develop for the government. TRAI has now threatened to take legal action against Apple, which had agreed on last October to come up with the ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND) iOS app.

This strong message has been laid out, as TRAI looks to curb the menace of pesky promotional calls and messages that have angered mobile users in the country for a long time. The DND app, which is already available on Android, has found it hard to launch on iOS. This is because Apple clearly believes in user’s data privacy, while the app seeks permissions to access call logs and message records.

The Cupertino-based giant has repeatedly shown its commitment to user data privacy and this is another example of it sticking to its stand.

TRAI and Apple have been stuck in a tussle, in which no party wants to back down from its stance. Interestingly, both the entities have a common goal in sight, the ie safety of users and their data.

Apple is touchy about privacy and in the past, it defied the US government when FBI sought help from Apple engineers in unlocking iPhone belonging to San Bernardino shooter.
Airtel, in its response to TRAI’s draft regulation, had noted, among other things, that “the suggestion of a new app (clause 6(2)(e) for registering the preference tantamount to creating an additional set-up and infrastructure without any value addition. This can be done away with as the operators can just sync this feature in their existing apps.”

Other telcos like Vodafone have commented that, among other things, TRAI’s regulation would require “huge cost” to be implemented.

Lets talk about Google Fuchsia! Google’s new ecosystem?

Google engineers are working on a new operating system, an operating system that can for the company replace everything else that is out there, including Chrome OS and Android. This new operating system is called Fuchsia. But no one for now is sure if it is just a hobby of Google engineers or a project that will one day power almost all devices that Google currently sells or may sell in future.

Unlike Android, which presently only powers phones and tablets, Fuchsia OS is being designed to run on a larger range of devices, like smart speakers and connected home gadgets. Further down the line, it’s expected to work on laptops as well.

Besides expanded compatibility, the team is also focusing on making Fuchsia OS support voice-based interactions better than Android presently can.

The project now has 100 engineers on board, as well as Matias Duarte, the brains behind Google’s Material Design language for the Android.
But members of the Fuchsia team have discussed a grander plan that is being reported here for the first time: Creating a single operating system capable of running all the company’s in-house gadgets, like Pixel phones and smart speakers, as well as third-party devices that now rely on Android and another system called Chrome OS, according to people familiar with the conversations.

Gorilla Glass 6 is twice as durable as its predecessors and its coming to us in the next three months!!

Corning has already stated that the new glass is made using a totally different chemical composition.

Glass-maker Corning has unveiled a new version of its Gorilla Glass used in the majority of smartphone displays, which it says is twice as likely to survive being dropped.

As phones get bigger and come with glass on the back as well as the front, the potential for smashed devices has increased. While cases have helped, even heavily protected phone screens still end up shattered from impact and then stress from being bent, squeezed or bumped in a pocket or bag.

Gorilla Glass 6 is a new chemically strengthened and highly compressed glass that Corning says has twice the drop protection of its Gorilla Glass 5.

Apple today announced Corning Incorporated will receive $200 million from Apple’s new Advanced Manufacturing Fund as part of the company’s commitment to foster innovation among American manufacturers. The investment will support Corning’s R&D, capital equipment needs, and state-of-the-art glass processing. Corning’s 65-year-old Harrodsburg facility has been integral to the 10-year collaboration between these two innovative companies and will be the focus of Apple’s investment.

You don’t invest that much money without any sort of expectations. And while the investment may have been too late to bring any immediate benefits — like Gorilla Glass 6 on the iPhone X — it’s not far-fetched to assume the next generation of iPhones will have Gorilla Glass 6 on the front and back?

Corning did say that Gorilla Glass 6 will protect various devices later this year, without revealing any product names. The Galaxy Note 9 and Pixel 3 may also be among the first gadgets to make use of the stronger glass.

“Gorilla Glass 6 is an entirely new glass composition that can be chemically strengthened to give it significantly higher levels of compression than is possible with Gorilla Glass 5. This enables Gorilla Glass 6 to be more resistant to damage,” Dr. Jaymin Amin, vice president of technology and product development, said in a press release the other day. “Moreover, with breaks during drops being a probabilistic event, the added compression helps increase, on average, the likelihood of survival through multiple drop events.”

orning did not confirm at the event which upcoming phones will use Gorilla Glass 6. But it’s a safe bet that many will. Over 50 phones currently incorporate Gorilla Glass, including Samsung’s Galaxy S9, the OnePlus 6 and Google’s Pixel 2. While Apple is always secretive about its materials, several of its phones, including the iPhone X, have all-glass backs, and it likely uses Gorilla Glass 5.

DXO Mark – Oneplus 6 scores better than IPhone 8 plus! A respectable 96.

its surprising to see how well this phone performs in low light giving the mighty iPhone a definite run for its money.

Although we have stated a several times in previous blogs that DXO mark should be the ultimate scale for you to judge a camera’s capability, nonetheless, it cannot be disregarded with all the different stages of test a camera goes through before scoring a specific number. The review from DXO mark for Oneplus 6 is out.

As per the review, the OnePlus flagship has been given an overall score of 96, ranking it above the Apple iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 – which both have the same overall score of 94. It’s behind the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, which has an overall score of 97. A photo score of 100 has been given to the OnePlus 6 while the phone’s overall video score is 87.

The video camera has a fast autofocus too but also efficient stabilization and low noise levels. However, it’s not without its faults – it oversharpened the image and worse, it didn’t do it consistently (sharpness varies between frames).

Another area where the OnePlus 6’s dual rear camera setup scores well is in flash photography. Thanks to dual-LED flash, the phone takes great photos with flash; photos that have good subject exposure and neutral white balance. However, some luminance noise was noted and the texture is on the lower side. It failed to perform well in extremely low light conditions. Zoom and Bokeh performance was sub-par in the DxOMark review.

Let’s take a look at its sublime specs
– 6.2in 2280×1080 Full Optic AMOLED 19:9 display
– Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM
– 64GB, 128GB or 256GB storage
– Dual 16MP (f/1.7) and 20MP cameras with OIS, Advanced HDR
– 16MP front-facing camera with ‘Portrait Mode’

A full version of Photoshop is heading to IPad in 2019!!

This will come as a boon for a lot of tech aficionados

Adobe is working on a full version of the popular photo-editing program Photoshop for Apple’s iPad, according to a Bloomberg report. Sources claim the software company plans to announce the new app at its annual MAX conference this October, with the app’s launch scheduled for sometime in 2019.

Suggested to be named Photoshop CC for iPad, the full version is expected to offer a range of tools, enabling users to start a project on the desktop and continue editing on the iPad, or the other way around. The app is said to have a mobile-friendly interface, as part of an architecture revamp that will extend to other Adobe apps, such as Illustrator.

Belsky says the latest iPad Pros are powerful enough to run the full versions of Adobe’s apps, though the report suggests Adobe will launch the new Photoshop — and further down the road, a new Illustrator — “alongside” the original app, rather than immediately replacing it. This will enable Adobe to adopt a more mobile-friendly interface for both computer and tablet users while gently transitioning users away from the classic Photoshop’s aging code base.

Oneplus embellishes the Gallery page with its new Video Editing feature.

This nifty feature allows the user to add background music to the video and some more!

OnePlus has rolled out an update to its Gallery app on Google Play that will enable even older smartphones from the company to edit videos using features present in the OnePlus 6. The latest flagship from OnePlus, the OnePlus 6, brought with itself several features that are not there on the older handsets. However, some of the features are nos arriving for the manufacturer’s smartphones such as the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5, and OnePlus 5T. As per the latest information, the Gallery app update has brought some of the OnePlus 6’svideo editing tools to the previous models.

First spotted by Android Police, the updated Gallery app is available on the Google Play. It brings video editing tools from the app in OnePlus 6, including slow-motion video editing, background music, and general clipping/ trimming.

It’s also worth mentioning that, When editing slow-motion videos, the smartphones will now give users options to set where the video stays at regular speed, and where it will switch to slow-motion. OnePlus 6 allows users to record and edit slow-motion videos up to 480 fps (frames per second). All the older variants only allowed users to record and edit up to 120fps.

OnePlus recently announced new beta updates for the OnePlus 3 and the 3T. The company has officially said that these will be the last open beta updates that both the devices will get to see. This new update brings a lot of new features and improvements which were recently announced for the OnePlus 5 and 5T to both the smartphones.

Now Vivo Nex S will be here for Rs. 48,990. Pre-order could start from 19th July.

With true bezel-less screen, this phone will come at a starting price which is more than Rs. 10,000 cheaper than Oppo find x

Vivo Nex S India launch is set for July 19 and the company has already sent out invites for an event in New Delhi.

The phone could be called Nex in India, and pre-order on the e-commerce site is expected to begin at 1 PM, July 19. It does not look like Vivo will launch Vivo Nex A for the Indian market at the event.

Vivo Nex S is listed with several launch offers like no-cost EMI, assured buyback as well as offers from HDFC, Reliance Jio, etc. Of course, we cannot take this as the official pricing for now, and we will have to wait for launch to know more. However, if one goes by the leak, Vivo Nex S is pegged to cost a lot lower than Oppo Find X, which was launched in India on July 12 and is priced at a whopping Rs 59,990. Both Find X and Vivo Nex S are flagship smartphones that come with similar specifications. Both phones are, however, significantly more expensive than the OnePlus 6, which has similar hardware specifications but no fancy sliding cameras.
